CME launches E-Mini@gold kilo and silver Futures

CHICAGO: CME Group Inc., the world’s largest and most diverse derivatives exchange, has announced the launch of  E-mini® gold kilo and E-mini silver 1,000 ounce futures contracts, scheduled to begin trading on April 19 for trade date April 20. These contracts are listed with, and subject to, the rules and regulations of NYMEX. The products will be available only on the CME Globex® electronic trading platform.

“As CME Group continues to globalize its innovative product mix, the new E-mini gold and silver contracts will now allow a broader customer base, including institutional trading firms based in Asia, to hedge its risk in the precious metals markets,” said Joe Raia, CME Group Managing Director of Energy and Metals Products and Services. “In addition, our customers continue to seek the security of CME Clearing and the capital efficiencies of cross-margining against our benchmark gold and silver futures contracts to manage their risk in these volatile economic times.”

The E-mini gold kilo futures contract (commodity code 8Q) will be 33.2 troy ounces in size with a minimum price fluctuation of $0.10 per troy ounce. The E-mini silver 1,000 oz. futures contract (commodity code 6Q) will be 1,000 troy ounces with a minimum price fluctuation of $0.01 per troy ounce.

The first listed month will be May 2009 for both contracts. The E-mini gold kilo futures contract will trade the current calendar month, the next two calendar months, and every February, April, June, August, October, and December for a 23-month period from the current calendar month. The E-mini silver 1,000 oz. futures contract will trade the current calendar month, the next two calendar months, and every March, May, July, September, and December for a 23-month period from the current calendar month. The first month to be listed will be the May 2009 contract. The contracts will terminate on the third last business day of the contract month

Global gold jewellery exhibition begins in Jeddah

An international exhibition of gold and jewellery products has opened in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah, it has been announced.

The four-day event, which is talking place at the Hilton hotel, involves more than 60 domestic and international companies, the Saudi Gazette reports.

On show at the event, which has been organised by a number of jewellery firms, are gold ornaments, watches and jewellery pieces, with the latter two categories being on display “for the first time”, according to chairman of the Board of Relations Company Usama Al-Kurdi.

“Several international companies have come up with the latest trends in the gold industry,” he told the news source.

And Mr Al-Kurdi noted that the western region of the Kingdom is currently consuming the most gold, due to the high number of visitors attracted to the area.

Gold is also currently on display in Moscow, as part of an exhibition showcasing a number of items produced in Turkmenistan.

The top-notch stylists from Schwarzkopf Professional conducted an exclusive & rigorous hair- consultation session for the 22 finalists of the Femina Miss India contest at their Mumbai ASK Academy today.

The hair consultation session was spearheaded by Najeeb Ur Rehman, National Technical Manager, Schwarzkopf Professional who was also appointed as the Chief Color & Styling Consultant for the Femina Miss India pageant .Najeeb Ur Rehman has carved a niche for himself in the hair industry and is undoubtedly one of the most loved trainers. He is also an absolute pro in the hair realm & specializes in creative and corrective hair coloring, cutting & texturizing. Along with his well-trained and experienced team he set out to help the finalists of the contest understand their hair and hair-needs better. The team worked on crafting looks that specifically suited the contestants so they could put their best foot forward in the contests that are to ensue to win the coveted and prestigious beauty title.

s stylists providing the styling and coloring services for the official unveiling, the portfolio shoots , the sub-contests and the Grand finale. Najeeb will style the hair-looks for Super Model Jaqueline Fernandes who has been roped in by Femina to unveil the much loved crown. They will create 3 distinct styles for each of the 22 contestants for their Portfolio shoot that will happen over a span of 3 days. The 3 looks will be created to suit the following apparels: Indian sari, western wear and swim wear. Come Grand Finale the stylists from Schwarzkopf Professional will again craft 3 different hair-looks and do the styling for all the finalists. Post the event the winners of the competition will get a chance to train under the tutelage of Schwarzkopf Professional’s top technicians on ‘Self- hair styling’ for their respective International pageants.
